Canada Banff & Jasper NPs June 12-14

After Yoho NP, and a stop at the Lake Louise Visitor Center (busy, busy), we proceeded up the Icefield Parkway through Banff National Park.

Stopped at Crowfoot Glacier.

But mainly we were worried about getting a campsite.  Early afternoon we landed the second-to-last available site at Rampart Creek Campground for 2 nights.  We're camping in Banff NP!

Cliff bar stop at Coleman Creek on a lovely early evening bike ride on the Icefield Parkway, 14 miles total.  Nice shoulders on this road and traffic not bad at all.

Nice ride around campground that evening too!

Driving north the next day we stopped at the Icefield Centre.  Lots of good info on glaciers, climate change, and of course fantastic views of the Athabasca Glacier and friends.

Drove straight up to Jasper -- our most-northern point on the trip -- so this time we planned to get gas and switch drivers 😉.

I know, it's a little weird taking a picture at a gas station.

Post office, bank, internet, phone calls in Jasper.

Then back through the pedestrian/bike tunnel to the RV.

During the 90-mile drive from Jasper back to our Rampart Creek Campground, we stopped numerous times for hikes, views, and waterfalls.

Athabasca Falls

Potholes (way bigger than the one on VT's Long Trail north of Hedgehog Brook Trail)

Sunwapta Falls.  This is the boundary between Jasper NP and Banff NP.

Tangle falls

Arrived at our campsite as the light rain began, continuing into the night and all through the next day.  And the next night too.  At least we're not near the tornado warnings east of Calgary.  They ended up with nine tornadoes.

Morning stop at Bow Lake, Banff NP.

Glacial water, glacier, 3 waterfalls, and a mountain.  Not bad for one stop.

Robison and back to the East-West route through Kamloops to Vancover and Vancover Island - Nanamo - Victoria ferry to Port Angeles and so on to Vancover Wa... thanks for the pictures too - fond memories
